Interestingly, Lovex lists S065 ( SW Long Rifle) as their Varget “equivalent” in their burn rate chart, though I’m not sure about caliber usage (SW lists usages for powders that Lovex does not and vice versa). Powders come in flakes, balls and tubes. Generally the flake powders are fast, the ball powders cover the whole range and tube powders are slow to very slow, like the thumb sized battleship powder grains. Hogdon's powder burn rate chart has H322 as faster than N133, but look at the majority of the powder burn rate charts online, and you will see H322 placed way down the chart as a slower powder... I believe Hogdon has to be the authority on this since my results tend to support their placing it ahead of V133 as faster burning... I keep a burn rate chart posted on my powder cabinet. Interspersed with the canister powders on the list, are the best estimates various commercial and surpluss powders I use. The goal is just like JD described: Find the slowest possible powder, that completely fills the case, but not so slow that you begin loosing velocity. This chart is a "modified" best guess, from Western Powders main burn rate chart. We added Lovex and the new IMR powders. We can't confirm this is exact, but we think its ballpark. Different burn rate charts show the same powders in different order, so I think its somewhat confusing to as what powder burns faster than another.
I like the burn rate charts for selecting powders to use in my gas operated semi autos, I like the faster burning powders. I will not rely on burn charts alone, as trail boss is a fast burning powder but it is bulky and is great for reduced power loads in everything I have tried it in but the burn rate chart does not reflect that

Powders vary from lot to lot, and may loose potency over time depending on storage conditions. This is why powder manufacturers say to reduce by 10% from starting charges when using a new lot of powder. Its not an exact science. What burns fine for me in my rifle may be to hot for yours. I can't seem to track down a decent burn rate chart that lists 2000-MR. From anecdotal info it seems to be used in similar applications to CFE223. Any chance anyone with current version of QL can confirm whether or not 2000-MR is a supported powder?
